This boat race is like none you've seen before as 2-person teams in boats built entirely from cardboard, duct tape, and glue will race down the Neuse River on Saturday, August 12!  The race will start at 5:00 p.m., with a DJ at the Boat Ramp from 4-7pm, and the Awards Ceremony at 6:45pm at the Neuse River Amphitheater, followed by a band from 7-9pm.

In an ongoing effort to improve the appearance of Downtown Smithfield, its buildings and businesses, the DSDC has developed two new grants to encourage further downtown revitalization.  The lighting grant will pay for the installation of timers to control storefront lights, while the awning grant will reimburse up to $2,000 for the purchase and installation of a new awning.
