Design AssistanceIn an ongoing effort to improve the appearance of Downtown Smithfield, its buildings and businesses, the DSDC has developed two new grants to encourage further downtown revitalization.  The lighting grant will pay for the installation of timers to control storefront lights, while the awning grant will reimburse up to $2,000 for the purchase and installation of a new awning.

Smithfield is a North Carolina Main Street Community, designated by the NC Department of Commerce and Main Street & Rural Planning Center.  The Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation is charged with administering the program at the local level and building a public-private partnership to spur economic development in partnership with the state agency.
